FEATURE FILM

BAD GENIUS (Thriller/Suspense)
Release date: 3 MAY 2017

A film by Nattawut Poonpiriya – The director of ‘COUNTDOWN’

Trailer àhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLdhN4oMxCQ

Synopsis
Welcome to an exam-cheating business run by ‘Lynn’(Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying), a straight-A student who gets the idea for her business after helping ‘Grace’ (Eisaya Hosuwan) and ‘Pat’, (Teeradon Supapunpinyo). Grace is a prominent school activist who can’t get the grades she needs. Pat is a filthy-rich boy who believes money can buy anything. Lynn’s business skyrockets and the money starts to flood in as scores of students offer her cold hard cash in exchange for exam answers.

One day, Lynn is offered the opportunity to make millions of Baht. It is Pat and Grace who devise a plan for her to take the STIC test, an international standardised test for students wanting to enrol in the world’s leading universities. The test is scheduled to take place on the same date and same time at locations all over the world.

Although it will be extremely difficult to pull off, their plan is for Lynn to fly to a country in a time zone that’s ahead of Thailand, and then send the answers back to her customers. The only setback is that they need another genius scholar to help them pass on the answers in Thailand, and the only person that fits the profile is ‘Bank’(Chanon Santinatornkul), Lynn’s scholarship-student rival who staunchly detests cheating of any kind.

What will Lynn do to convince Bank to overcome his moral dilemma and help them? How BAD will this GENIUS become?

DIARY OF TOOTISES THE SERIES 2

Trailer àhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGAEgo5EnhY

12 Episodes 40 min each

Synopsis

Their boldness will make you laugh.

Their heartache will make you cry.

And their queerness will tickle your funny bone.

Adapted from a famous fan page with nearly 700,000 likes into a comedy TV series about a gang of gay friends who are on a mission to find true love. This is a very candid glimpse into what life is like for gay people in today’s interconnected world.

The storyline revolves around Gus (Petch- Paopetch Charoensuk) a slim figured tootsie who is a self-professed expert in the field of plastic surgery and his queer partners in crime; Golf (Ping Pong- Thongchai Thongkunthom) an oversized tootsie who is really into dancing; Kim (Ter- Rattanun Janyajirawong) a steward who was known to be a wallflower but now is notorious for being more like a Venus flytrap in the gay dating scene and Natty (Peak- Pattarasaya Kruesuwansiri) a nutty event MC, who is the only “real” female in the group.

When these three BFFs (Best friends Forever) get their heart-broken at the same time, they all set out on a mission to find their very own special pot of love at the end of the rainbow. The Diary of Tootsies is their colorful tales, told through cameo appearances by a bunch of your favorite celebrities.

108 Media is Proud to Present
Hollywood Dirt, Based on the Acclaimed International Best Selling Novel

Hollywood Dirt is the first in a series of original Made For TV Movies being produced for an all new North American SVOD Platform PassionFlix from Producer Tosca Musk.

From the start, I knew he was trouble. For our town. And for me. Sometimes, opposites just aren’t meant to attract.

Cole Masten. Abandoned by his superstar wife, Hollywood’s Perfect Husband is now Hollywood’s Sexiest Bachelor: partying hard and screwing even harder. Summer Jenkins. That’s me, a small-town girl stuck in Quincy, Georgia. I cook some mean chicken and dumplings, can bluff a grown man out of his savings in poker, and was voted Most Friendly my senior year.

We were from different worlds. Our lives shouldn’t have collided. But then Cole Masten read a book about my small town. And six months later, his jet landed on our dusty airstrip, and he brought Hollywood with him.

Hollywood Dirt is currently in production and stars Emma Rigby (Once Upon A Time in Wonderland, The Physician, American Violence) and Johann Urb (Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Resident Evil: Retribution) and will be available Q3 of 2017.  Territories outside of North America are available.

KERING AND UNIFRANCE JOIN FORCES TO STRENGTHEN THE IMPACT OF WOMEN IN MOTION THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

The new two-year partnership between Kering and UniFrance is designed to ramp up the impact of Women in Motion by integrating the programme into various international film events throughout the year.

With Women in Motion getting ready for its third successive year at Cannes, Kering, an official partner of the Festival de Cannes, and UniFrance, the organisation responsible for the global promotion of the French film, have announced the signing of a two-year partnership designed to increase the programme’s worldwide impact, and highlight women’s contribution to film.

Kering and UniFrance will team up to integrate Women in Motion into a variety of soon-to-be-announced international film events throughout the year. Amongst others, Women in Motion will play a part in the French Film Festival in Japan organised by UniFrance from 22 to 25 June in Tokyo. The partnership will be launched at the next Festival de Cannes, from 17 to 28 May 2017, where UniFrance’s iconic General Director Isabelle Giordano will host a Women in Motion Talk.

Building on the commitment of UniFrance, which has worked tirelessly since 1949 to promote French cinema throughout the world, this partnership marks a key step forward in the development of the programme and will no doubt accelerate the task – undertaken by Women in Motion since its creation in 2015 – of highlighting the role played by women in film and promoting their presence both on and off screen, across the globe.

In 2016, Women in Motion joined forces for the first time with the Sundance Institute to support the Women at Sundance Fellowship Programme – a mentoring initiative with six female directors and producers for whom Kering organised a personal coaching session that year. Another Women in Motion Talk will take place on 13 May 2017 during the Elle Active forum in Shanghai, in partnership with Elle China, while a further Talk will be held on 17 June 2017 in Hikarie (Japan) as part of the Women in Society event organised by Elle Japan. The event is set to feature renowned film director Naomi Kawase. Kering’s partnership with UniFrance will also help bolster and increase the impact of Women in Motion.

For the third year, Women in Motion, which is designed as a forum for discussion and encounters, has organised its Talks during the Festival de Cannes. These round tables bring together key figures from the world of film to engage in debate, raise awareness, and share experiences on the representation of women in film. In addition, the annual Women in Motion event celebrates female film industry professionals by awarding the Women in Motion prize to a leading figure in film, who in turn awards the Young Talents prize to a promising newcomer of her choosing.

The two Women in Motion Awards are awarded each year to an inspiring figure who embodies the programme’s values, and to a young film industry professional, who receives funding support for cinematographic projects.

Documentary about Tupac Shakur, directed by academy award winner Steve McQueen

The film, sanctioned By the hip-hop icon’s estate, will be Produced by White Horse Pictures, Jayson Jackson And Amaru Entertainment

Shakur Estate trustee Tom Whalley and Amaru Entertainment, the company created by Afeni Shakur to release her son’s posthumous projects, announced today that Nigel Sinclair’s White Horse Pictures and Jayson Jackson will team up to produce a fully authorized documentary with Amaru on the life of acclaimed hip-hop artist, writer and poet Tupac Shakur.

The film will be directed by Academy Award-winning director, Steve McQueen (12 YEARS A SLAVE) and produced by Jayson Jackson (WHAT HAPPENED, MISS SIMONE?) and White Horse Pictures’ Nigel Sinclair (THE BEATLES: EIGHT DAYS A WEEK – The Touring Years) and Nicholas Ferrall, together with Shakur Estate Trustee Tom Whalley. Gloria Cox, Tupac Shakur’s aunt and Afeni Shakur’s only sister, will executive produce along with White Horse’s Jeanne Elfant Festa.

STEVE MCQUEEN

“I am extremely moved and excited to be exploring the life and times of this legendary artist.  I attended NYU film school in 1993 and can remember the unfolding hip-hop world and mine overlapping with Tupac’s through a mutual friend in a small way. Few, if any shined brighter than Tupac Shakur.  I look forward to working closely with his family to tell the unvarnished story of this talented man.”

TOM WHALLEY

“Tupac’s timeless message resonates today as strongly as it did when I first discovered him in 1990, possibly more so.  His legacy is unfortunately seen now through the refraction of the headlines, the controversy, and the tragic way his life ended.  With this film, we will show the artist and the young man who existed beyond the news. I have an obligation to both Tupac and Afeni Shakur, to make sure this project becomes realized.  In the final year of her life, Afeni and I spoke often of her desire to have her son’s true story be told.  We are very excited to be working with the talents of Steve McQueen, Jayson Jackson and Nigel Sinclair.

Together, with the team we have assembled, I am honored to have the opportunity to bring the documentary Tupac started in 1996 to life. “

GLORIA COX

"I am happy to see this project come to life. This was something that my nephew (Tupac) was very passionate about creating in 1996, and my sister (Afeni) since before her passing this last May.  It has been a long journey to get here.

I feel like we have a team she (Afeni) would be very pleased with. It has never been our intention to rewrite the story of Tupac. Our goal has always been to tell the true story, which has never been done before in such a complete way. My sister always said to me, ‘We are not in the business of defending Tupac. Our job is to allow him to be seen in the most complete way, so his actions, his choices, and his words will allow him to speak for himself.’  I believe this film will do exactly that.”

JAYSON JACKSON AND NIGEL SINCLAIR

“We are proud and grateful to The Estate for inviting us to the team to help produce this film with the incredible Steve McQueen.  We hope to make a film that explores all of Tupac’s talent and creativity, as well as his singular personality.  We’ve got more than 2 decades of perspective now, and we hope to make a film that people can look back on in another 5 decades and understand his contribution to all of art, music, and culture.  Most of all, we hope to bring to our audience, insight into his perspectives, and what it was like to be sitting inside his world and the world he grew up in.”

White Horse’s Cassidy Hartmann will serve as co-executive producer. Marc Ambrose (THE BEATLES: EIGHT DAYS A WEEK – The Touring Years) will serve as supervising producer.

The documentary will be produced with the full cooperation and the assistance of The Shakur Estate, and financed and distributed by Amaru Entertainment.

White Horse Pictures is engaged as the worldwide sales agent on the documentary.

CLOSING NIGHT FILM: THE HERO

bc30c8c8-385d-4e40-b615-f9c1fb0a01fa.jpg

Director Brett Haley will present his beautiful narrative feature THE HERO, the festival's closing night film, at the Parkway on Sunday, May 7 at 7:15 PM.

THE HERO stars the legendary Sam Elliott as an aging actor confronting mortality in the moving new film from writer/director Brett Haley (I’LL SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS). Lee Hayden (Elliott) is a Western icon with a golden voice, but his best performances are decades behind him. He spends his days reliving old glories and smoking too much weed with his former-co-star-turned-dealer, Jeremy (Nick Offerman), until a surprise cancer diagnosis brings his priorities into sharp focus. He soon strikes up an exciting, contentious relationship with stand-up comic Charlotte (Laura Prepon), and he attempts to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Lucy (Krysten Ritter), all while searching for one final role to cement his legacy. THE HERO is a beautiful and poignant celebration of life and the legacies we all leave behind.

NOTABLE WORLD PREMIERES & U.S. PREMIERES

The festival will feature world premieres of two excellent narrative feature works, Stephen Cone's nuanced coming-of-age drama PRINCESS CYD (the follow-up his highly-acclaimed recent film HENRY GAMBLE'S BIRTHDAY PARTY) and Josh Crockett's hilarious and insightful DR. BRINKS & DR. BRINKS. It will also feature the U.S. premiere of Ashley McKenzie's haunting and uncompromising narrative feature WEREWOLF and Hugh Gibson's documentary feature THE STAIRS.
