The heartwarming drama The Florida Project to be screened at Stockholm International Film Festival
In The Florida Project Willem Dafoe delivers one of his most emotional performances yet. The movie is speculated to be nominated for an Academy Award and is featured in the category American Independents at the 28th edition of the Stockholm Film Festival.
Stockholm International Film Festival proudly presents the heartwarming drama The Florida Project. The movie was one of the most highly buzzed-about at this year Cannes Film Festival, where it also premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight-section.
The movie is Florida-based, and award winning director, SeanBaker’s sixth movie. It is a devastating tale about the forgotten America, seen through the carefree eyes of 6-year-old Moonee.
Moonee and her rebellious mother Halley stays at a cheap motel called “The Magic Castle”. There they meet the long-suffering motel manager Bobby, extraordinary played by WillemDafoe, who despite his rough appearance is the closest to a father figure Moonee comes.
While Moonee and her new friends explore the motel, and its odd guest, Halley finds herself in more or less dangerous situations in order to provide for her daughter.
Tickets will be available from the 17th of October. The movie will also have its red carpet premier during the festival.
The Stockholm International Film Festival takes place 8th-19th of November.
The movie is distributed by Scanbox and has cinema premier 9th of February 2018.
