At this year’s American Film Market, China was represented by, among others, Cubix International, a large media holding that works in several areas, including developing joint productions. Talks with ROSKINO, initiated by the Chinese, suggest future development of Russian-Chinese co-operations in film and television. A bilateral Russian-Chinese Summit for media industry professionals from both countries will take place at the Shanghai International Film Festival and Saint Petersburg International Media Forum in 2015.

Successful meetings that ROSKINO held at the AFM included talks with the American company Interact about distributing Russian films and TV content on board the world’s biggest airlines, like British Airways, Air Canada, Delta, Qatar Airlines and others. This cooperation in the future promises not just financial profit but also major socio-cultural benefits – the distribution of Russian content on international airlines will significantly expand the influence of our film and culture, which will create a positive background for the perception of modern Russia overall.

Another result of ROSKINOs trip to Los Angeles is the start of co-operation with an influential Hollywood guild–the Writers Guild of America, the WGA. In light of developing prospects for joint productions between Russia and USA, attracting American screenwriters will open new creative horizons for Russian filmmakers.

It should be stressed that, despite the complicated current political situation, attitudes towards Russian companies in Los Angeles at ROSKINO’s booth were as friendly as usual and all talks were aimed at long and productive cooperation.
