Little Studio Films has announced it is the producer representative for Riding ’79 and will be showing it to buyers at the American Film Market 2014 in Santa Monica.
The film is a coming of age story about a 16-year-old boy who finds himself searching for escape in the island of Puerto Rico after his mother leaves him and his sister with his grandparents in a surf town.
His fascination with a hula hoop model leads him to steal his grandfather’s car to meet the object of his affection in person. Along the way, he learns some important lessons and finds love
The project, directed by Karola Hawk, and filmed entirely in Puerto Rico will be represented by Little Studio Films this year at the American Film Market in Santa Monica. The event will allow the company to present the film to various American and international film distributors.
The film stars Lorenzo James Henrie in the lead role of Miguel. Henry is best known for parts in 2009’s Star Trek and the 2010 film Almost Kings. He is also scheduled to appear in Warrior Road in 2015. Other notable stars include Elena Lev, a former performer with Cirque Du Soleil in New York (“Stella”), Kim Rhodes of As the World Turns and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody (“Betty”), and Madalyn Horcher. Horcher plays Chloe Lasseter on FOX’s Gracepoint.
