About the Films:

iNumber Number

From the director of spud, Donovan Marsh, come ruthless, ego-tripping men deep in the heart of Johannesburg’s decaying industrial wasteland. When honest undercover cop Chili Ngcobo (winner of the TV Talent show, ‘Class Act’, S’dumo Mtshali), and his by-the-book partner, Sello ‘Shoes’ Moshoeshoe (lead actor of the Oscar Winning film ‘Tsotsi’, Presley Chweneyagae), are cheated out of a large reward by their corrupt superiors, Chili finds another way of getting the money he feels they deserve. Chili penetrates a cash-in-transit heist gang, and instead of busting them, convinces his partner to participate in a once off score. Produced by Quizzical Pictures.

One Humanity

Directed by Mickey Madoda Dube “One Humanity – One Justice” is a rich, star-studded project including a 120-minute feature documentary, three 50-minute highlight concert programmes and two DVDs.The feature documentary is a strong mixture of gritty political interviews, historic archive footage and performances from two global broadcast events from 1988 and 1990, both of which reached world audiences of more than 500m - the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute and the International Tribute for a Free

South Africa.

Nelson Mandela: the Myth & Me

In a personal odyssey encompassing an imaginary letter to Mandela and conversations with politicians, activists, intellectuals and artists, director Khalo Matabane interrogates for himself the meaning of freedom, reconciliation and forgiveness, and challenges Mandela’s legacy in today’s world of conflict and inequality. Produced by Born Free Media

Miners Shot Down

On August 16, 2012, South African police opened fire on a group of Lonmin mineworkers on a wildcat strike at the Marikana mine, killing 34 and injuring 78... Miners Shot Down charts the seven days leading up to bloodshed, much of it in real-time. The film uncovers disturbing new footage showing a line of police, with armoured vehicles in the background, firing live ammunition on a crowd of miners who are moving in a huddle towards the police line — challenging the police narrative that they acted in self-defence. Directed by Rehad Desai, the documentary utilizes compelling previously unseen police, security and TV footage, some of which was submitted to the inquiry into the massacre, which is now underway. Uhuru Productions

The NFVF, its partners KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission, WESGRO and Durban Film Office, and South African filmmakers are based at International Village Riviera, Pavilion 120
