THAT DEMON WITHIN, the latest suspense action drama from lauded Hong Kong director Dante Lam, has officially been selected for the Berlin International Film Festival 2014.
THAT DEMON WITHIN will make its international red carpet debut at a Gala screening in Panorama Special during Berlinale, attended by director Dante Lam, producer Candy Leung, Albert Lee and stars Nick Cheung, Daniel Wu and Christie Chen.
The film is the latest dark thriller from Lam, straight from the success of his 2013 hit “Unbeatable”, and renews his successful bond with Hong Kong’s leading character actor Nick Cheung. The two had previously collaborated on films such as “Unbeatable”, and two other Berlinale Forum entries “The Beast Stalker” (2008) and “The Stool Pigeon” (2010).
THAT DEMON WITHIN delves into the mind of a dedicated cop, Dave Wong (Daniel Wu) who wonders if he has done the right thing when he saves the life of vicious and cold-blooded killer Hon Kong (Nick Cheung). His dormant demons threaten to burst onto the surface when Fate throws him into an unholy alliance with Hon in order for him to break the case. As his benevolent side wages battle with his own malevolent demons, Dave teeters on the brink of sanity.
As events hurtle rapidly towards a fiery and violent dénouement, Wong finally realizes that the demon he must get rid of is his own – an inner demon that has claimed its first victim more than a decade ago.
