In Taipei, an adaptation of Tao Lin’s hit 2013 novel of the same name, we follow New York blogger Erin as she cycles from one empty relationship to another. Along the way, a new and unexpected romance blooms with Paul, a successful novelist whose new book Erin is highly enamored with. The duo undertakes a joint project: documenting every element of their emerging relationship through an epic laptop-filmed documentary. Tracking the pair through a shotgun Niagara Falls wedding, drug binges, all-night urban revels, and to Taiwan, the country of Paul’s birth where the couple comes to confront their individual alienation, Taipei is a meditation on what it means to be young, alive, and in love, whether on the fringes of America, or anywhere else for that matter.
