Named one of the world's Top 25 film festivals worth the entry fee by Movie Maker magazine in April 2013-16, and named one of the world's 5 coolest documentary film festivals by MovieMaker in November 2013, the American Documentary Film Festival's 6th annual event will take place April 6-14, 2018.
The Festival is located in the beautiful resort community of Palm Springs, California. Ideally located 2 hours east of Hollywood, this film mecca boasts a favorable viewing audience and a proven track record of supporting independent films. Already the largest documentary festival on the West Coast of the United States, we feature documentary features, doc shorts, and animated shorts from filmmakers around the world. Our main objective is to promote a world vision of film as seen through the eyes of the filmmaker.
The Festival works in conjunction with the Palm Springs Cultural Center. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, it was established to encourage the development of the cultural arts in the Coachella Valley with a specific focus in the areas of film, fine art, live performance, dance, music, and community-wide participation in the cultural arts, and to sponsoring scholarship awards for deserving individuals.
In addition to our Film Festival, which showcased more than 160 documentary and animated films on 4 screens in 2 theaters in Palm Springs in 2017, we hold an annual Film Fund contest with independent American filmmakers who compete for financing for new projects, as well as works currently in progress.
We were proud to have thousands of attendees from around the world at our 2017 event, and we look forward to seeing you at our even bigger and better 7th annual American Documentary Film Festival in 2018.
