Every filmmaker starts with their first camera; every festival starts with its first film. Ottawa’s newest film festival, Cellar Door Film Festival (CDFF), is now accepting submissions for the Fall 2014 inaugural edition of the festival.
CDFF invites filmmakers to submit speculative films of both short and feature lengths. This includes films made within the genres of: horror, thriller, science-fiction, fantasy, avant-garde, experimental, the supernatural, alternative history, mystery, grindhouse, and everything else in-between!
CDFF welcomes films from local, national and international filmmakers. Filmmakers from the Greater Ottawa Area can submit one short film for free (see website for details). By encouraging local productions, CDFF hopes to showcase the strength of our rapidly expanding film and arts community.
"We’ve been busy laying the groundwork for a genre film festival that speaks to the rising interest in pop culture-related events in the Nation's Capital,” says Gina Freitag, the Director of the Cellar Door Film Festival. “We hope to showcase local talent, but we welcome filmmakers everywhere who are eager to share their strange and unusual films.”
In order to facilitate as many submissions as possible CDFF offers two submission methods: 1) upload your film online via Fest Home or 2) submit a hardcopy by mail. For full details regarding deadlines, entry forms, requirements, and fees, please visit our submissions page.
