BALLAD IN BLOOD
by Ruggero Deodato
American Premiere AFM 2016
Screening at Monica Film Center 3, Nov. 3 at 3pm
Ballad in Blood, produced by Massimo Esposti for Bell Film and distributed worldwide by TVCO, marks the great return behind the camera of Ruggero Deodato, historic leading Italian horror director.
His past films, like Cannibal Holocaust, just to name one, have been sold all over the world and have become "cult movies".
Ballad in Blood intends to revive those glories, updating narrative schemes and photography effects to current techniques.
The Film is about a group of young people of our times, completely alienated and deprived of moral values, involved in a murder mystery. A series of dramatic twists will be a prelude to an eerie finale. An explosion of bestial fury and erotic sensuality in shocking symbiosis. The tension stretched to the limit, as a fierce and relentless rope.
"I feel more of a neorealist than Rossellini," says Ruggero Deodato, explaining that for him genre cinema is deeply connected to current events and reality by focusing on the concept of death to which we are gradually becoming ever more indifferent
