With summer on the horizon, whether you are beach body prepared or not now is the time to whack out the summer wardrobe. If you are jetting off on holiday and feel like your summer wardrobe needs bit of an update; feel like a star on holiday and treat yourself to a pair of men’s designer swim shorts. They will last you for many summers to come and they could end up becoming your go-to-option. The summer is coming, so which classic beach look will you adopt? Here is a look back on some of the most famous swim short moments in film history.
James Bond, Daniel Craig
Since Casino Royale came out way back in 2008 Daniel Craig has claimed that his big swim short moment where he rises out of the water in his azure blue thigh skimming swim shorts was a complete accident. The beach scene in Casino Royale has become the most recognisable image of Craig as his role as 007, however according to Craig the scene was not in the script and only happened because the actor swam into an awkwardly sited sand bank. Either way, whether it was planned or an accident he has created serious swim short goals. The bright blue short swim shorts that match his eye colour perfectly create the perfect beach outfit. Luckily if you are a fan of the blue hues you are in luck as this summer all shades of blue are on trend.
Talented Mr Ripley, Jude Law
Although realised in the 1990’s this films follow a few young and carefree young adults in the perfect holiday destination, Italy in the 1950’s The 50’s was a decade that produced so many fashion trends we know, love and wear today including Cuban collar shirts and the coolest printed short shorts. In the talented Mr Ripley, Jude Law’s character Dickie Greenleaf wears some iconic styles that are very much on trend today, including two different types of rose quartz pink hued shorts. He wears a pale pink knee length pair which would be perfect teaming with a white shirt for the evening and a thigh skimming pastel pink pair for the day. His character then has a selection of printed shorts from pale subtle prints to vibrant animal themed shorts, creating several on trend looks for this year’s summer as well as in 1950’s Italy.
Sexy Beast, Ray Winstone
The opening to the film Sexy Beast is one of the finest sequences in British cinema. It follows Ray Winstone’s character Gary ‘Gal’ Dove, a retired gangster on a float in his pool under the Spanish sun. Ray’s character Gary is sporting a pair of gold trunks along with some very flash jewellery that really oozes how wealthy he is. Although this is not a trend that is being repeating this summer, if you have the confidence then definitely opt for a pair of swim shorts in a bold colour. If you are worried about the length don’t feel too self-conscious as on trend swim shorts vary from below knee lengthy to thigh skimming.
