LINE UP SHORT FILMS
PORTUGUESE CINEMA, EIGHT FILM SCHOOLS AND FRENCH CINEMA DOMINATE THE PREMIÈRES IN THE SHORTS SECTIONS
The 36th edition of Fantasporto, between 26th February and 5th March is held at the Teatro Municipal Rivoli, and as usual, with the Pre-Fantas as an appetizer.
Shorts are particularly in focus in the Official Fantasy competition, after a long selection process. And for the first time, they will be repeated in two independent screenings. Unreleased, recent films are also present in the Portuguese Best Film competition. Eight schools and universities from all over the country participate in a one of a kind competition. Innovation, discovery of new talents and films one remembers for the rest of their lives, are the main objective. The Official Sections are Fantasy, Directors Week, Orient Express and Portuguese Cinema for the competitions and the Première & Panorama for new films not in competition. The highlights for the 36th edition are The Latin Countries, especially Brazil and Argentina. Most directors and producers are expected to travel to Oporto for the stage presentation. The main retrospective is dedicated to Macedonian Venice Golden Lion winner, Milcho Manchevski who will attend the festival. 68 countries have sent films for selection. 38 countries were accepted for the several sections. Around 200 new films will be screened.
