Gray Matters by Marco Orsini explores the life & Work of Pioneering Irish Artist, Designer and Architect, through the eyes of the world’s most significant Eileen Gray experts
The Little Film Company will debut both films for International Sales at the upcoming Cannes Market. The documentary Gray Matters and selected scenes from the feature film The Price Of Desire will screen in Cannes on Thursday, May 14, 12:00pm - Riviera 1.
The Price Of Desire tells the controversial story of how the Father of modernism, Le Corbusier, effaced and defaced Eileen Gray's moral right to be recognized as the author of her work as well as one of the most forceful and influential inspirations of a century of modern architecture and design. Focusing on the love triangle between the bisexual Gray and her lovers Jean Badovici and Marisa Damia in the context of her long-running feud with Le Corbusier who “vandalized” her beloved and iconic “E1027” modernist villa in the South of France, the film stars Orla Brady in the role of Eileen Gray and Vincent Perez as Le Corbusier.
Gray Matters explores the work of arguably one of the most important designers and architects of the 20th century through the eyes of the many academics, artists, collectors, curators, experts and dealers who have studied and worked in the world of Eileen Gray. Was it professional resentment on the part of her peers, sexism, her own discretion or the agenda of others? The innovation of her creative output and the clarity of her unique vision has motivated a new generation of contemporary scholars, collectors and curators to investigate, recover and celebrate her creativity, her innovation and her uncompromising determination. The world has rediscovered Eileen Gray and the rehabilitation of her reputation, begun in the final 10 years of her lifetime, has been rekindled.
