Noëlle DESCHAMPS

France

President / Artistic Directeur of éQuinoxe

After studying Political Science at the IEP in Aix-en-Provence and Paris, Noëlle Deschamps chose to work in the cinema in 1979. As Mr. Toscan du Plantier’s assistant at Gaumont, she looked for new talent. Actrice, she began writing screenplays. In 1989, she looked for financial partners to create a company devoted to screenplay development. ID (International Development) was created with the UGC, Flammarion, IFSIC, and TF1.  It was an immediate success: 25 screenplays were developed, 15 were sold and 7 were shot and distributed. Strengthened by this experience, she created eQuinoxe in 1993 in partnership with Robert Redford’s Sundance Institute. Other partners joined her in the project: Canal+ (Pierre Lescure and Alain de Greef), Château Beychevelle, CNC, British Screen, European Script Fund, Air France and in 1994, Sony Pictures Entertainment. Thus, in December 1993, the Association éQuinoxe was launched with Canal+ .  Noëlle Deschamps was named Vice President and Artistic Director in charge of development. In 1994, she set up a European network. In 1996, the first workshop for producers, in 1997, a « panorama of éQuinoxe Films» was shown at the Cinema of Cineastes in Paris. The following year, a « Panorama of éQuinoxe Films » was shown: in Los Angeles at the Lacma, in England at the French Institute of London and during the Haugesund Festival in Norway. Since 1998, the Media Programme has supported éQuinoxe. In 1999, a new, important partner joined the éQuinoxe adventure: the Daniel Langlois Foundation. In 2000, Project eQuinoxe was created with Daniel Langlois and Dominique Marchand.
Since 1993, Noëlle Deschamps has held 29 Screenwriting Workshops. After ten years of existence, éQuinoxe changed its name to become éQuinoxe To Be Continued with new partners: UIP (UK), CNC (FR), William Randolph Hearst III (US), Academy of Motion Picture (US), UniFrance (FR), and Gerard Darel (FR). The Screenwriting Workshops of éQuinoxe To Be Continued have been held in Morocco, in Canada, in Austria, in Germany, in the Tokyo Palace in Paris, at the Villa Domergue in Cannes and at the Chateau of Versailles.  Today, with the arrival of new partners, EVIAN (FR), Evian ROYAL RESORT (FR), and the CITY OF EVIAN (FR), she will be holding her workshops in the well-known Evian Royal Resort. Since 2005 she has taught screenwriting at the University of Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne in the Masters’ II Program. She has also created a literary salon in partnership with the hotel REGINA to continue the dialogue started in the workshops with the reading of scripts or soon to be published books, once a month. She has also signed a partnership with Haroun Multi Media to create éQuinoxe Arabiya. She is presently finishing up writing her first novel: « FROM YOU TO ME ».
